Recycling copper gutters is just like recycling any other type of copper. This material has been recycled for a very long time. The copper industry thrives on the recycling of leftover or unused copper since there is such a wide range of applications. Copper gutters, though they will last a very long time, will eventually become easily recyclable material.
In a growing, green movement, copper gutters seem even more attractive. After they are recycled, there are so many applications the metal can be used for. It is very commonly used in electrical uses and creating wires. It is very important to maintain purity in recycling copper so it is still highly conductive for wiring applications.
Copper can also be used for power cables. For these purposes, the quality requirement, or the purity of the copper is not as vital. So lower grades of copper can essentially be used. Impurities in the copper can cause problems through such as during casting. Sometimes it will still be necessary to mix this in with higher quality copper to lower the occurrence of failures.
Recycled copper may actually end up back on your roof as roofing sheet! Many pipes inside your house also are made of copper. Since these applications do not require pure copper for conductivity, lower grades of copper may be used for these purposes.
Copper gutters are usually soldered with a metal or alloy that is stronger than copper, so recycling may not always be pure copper. When recycling copper that is mixed with other metals, it is not always completely separated. Some uses for using ‘contaminated’ copper such as bronzes require tin inside the mixture, so using this type of recyclable would be perfect.
So if you decide to use copper for your housing, you can rest assured its recyclability is very good and used across pretty wide applications.
